Pike Nurseries hosts free classes throughout June
Local garden center educates the community about properly caring for plants and the creatures that help plants grow
The Pike Nurseries team welcomes green thumbs of all ages to a series of free June gardening classes. Interactive sessions for children will cover a variety of topics from seeds to beneficial creatures that help gardens thrive. For grownups, Pike’s certified plant experts will share their knowledge about ever-popular succulents, as well as pet-friendly houseplants. Novice and experienced gardeners alike are invited to sharpen their skills through these engaging, free classes at all Pike Nurseries locations.
Kid's Class: Sensational Seeds
Wednesday, June 1 from 10-11 a.m.
Seeds are a vital part of our ecosystem, primarily because they are sources of a variety of foods. They also serve as the foundation of healthy landscapes. During this class, the experts at Pike Nurseries will teach children about seeds, demonstrating how they grow in a special ice cream cone planting experiment! Join the Pike Nurseries team for a FREE in-store Sensational Seeds class for kids on Wednesday, June 1 at 10 a.m. to learn all about the anatomy of seeds and their significance. Succulents
Saturday, June 4 from 9-10 a.m.
Succulents and cacti are known for their unusual textures and easy-care nature. They are loved for both their hardiness and variety in shapes, colors and size – making them great additions to home offices or window sills. The pros at Pike Nurseries are hosting a free in-store Succulents class on Saturday, June 4 at 9 a.m. highlighting the different kinds of succulents and cacti, how to properly plant and care for them and how to best pair succulents together in a container garden. Kid's Class: Herbs and the 5 Senses
Wednesday, June 8 from 10-11 a.m.
Herbs have long been praised throughout the world for their healing properties. In addition to the cures, herbs enhance the taste in some of the world’s most delicious dishes. The Pike Nurseries team wants to help children learn more about herbs by hosting a FREE in-store Herbs and the 5 Senses class for kids on Saturday, June 8 at 10 a.m. During this class, children will use their sight, sound, taste and touch to learn about herbs and their uses. Attendees should bring an empty tin can to create a take-home, up-cycled herb container. Guests must pre-register here.
Kid's Class: Garden Critters

The presence of critters like butterflies, worms and ladybugs are imperative for a garden to thrive. The expert gardeners at Pike Nurseries are hosting a FREE in-store Garden Critters class for kids on Wednesday, June 15 at 10 a.m. to teach children about the beneficial creatures that live in the garden. Pet-Friendly Houseplants
Saturday, June 18, 9-10 a.m.
For pet owners looking to add greenery and plants indoors, it’s important to ensure all houseplants are safe for Fluffy and Fido. To keep four-legged family members safe, Pike Nurseries is hosting a FREE in-store Pet-Friendly Houseplants class on Saturday, June 18 at 9 a.m. to feature houseplants that are particularly pet-friendly. Kid's Class: Bring on the Birds

Birds are not only beautiful creatures to observe from backyards, patios and decks, but they also play an important role in the health of a garden. The pros at Pike Nurseries are hosting a FREE in-store Bring on the Birds class for kids on Wednesday, June 22 at 10 a.m. to teach children about birds and how to attract them to their own yards.
